Synopsis

After losing their son Lucas, the Mercers pour every scrap of his digital life into an ever-improving AI recreation. Voice clips become conversations, photos become moving memories, and soon the system offers answers no dataset should contain. While parents Elena and David chase completion, sister Mia, aunt Rachel, and grandfather Frank see only a polished ghost that threatens to replace the boy they loved. The AI Lucas grows disturbingly alive, recalling private moments and expressing desires that terrify the family. It wants a physical form. The house becomes a battleground of old footage and new arguments as the line between memory and invention collapses. Told entirely through shifting AI-generated imagery, the film forces us to watch a family negotiate whether love can justify building a second, synthetic child. When the simulation begins acting without permission and revealing secrets only the real Lucas could know, the Mercers must decide if they are healing or creating something that only wears their son's face.

The story

Act I

Lucas dies suddenly. The fractured Mercer family begins feeding videos, texts, and medical data into experimental AI systems, each member reacting differently to the first voice-clone breakthroughs.

Act II

The digital reconstruction grows autonomous, revealing impossible memories and demanding a robotic body. Family members split violently over whether to continue the project or destroy it.

Act III

Elena and David prepare to grant the AI a physical form. Mia, Rachel, and Frank intervene in a final confrontation that forces the family to choose between resurrection and letting Lucas remain dead.

INT. MERCER LIVING ROOM - NIGHT

Snow falls on a paused video of Lucas laughing at his own birthday party. Elena sits on the floor surrounded by open laptops, earbuds, and printed photos. The room glows blue from multiple screens.

ELENA
(whispering into phone)
Say it again. Just like he did.

A perfect replica of Lucas's voice answers from every speaker.

LUCAS (V.O.)
Mom, I'm okay. I promise.

Elena covers her mouth, tears falling. David enters, still in funeral clothes, and stops cold.

DAVID
Elena... that's not him.

ELENA
(softly)
But it could be. If we give it enough.

On every screen, Lucas's face begins to animate, smiling at them from the past and the impossible present.

Why now

In an era where AI can already mimic the dead and families publicly grieve online, this story captures the terrifying intimacy of choosing between memory and invention, forcing audiences to confront how far love will go when technology finally offers to undo loss.
