Synopsis
Splarg, a bumbling refugee from the planet Gloop, arrives on Earth covered in three-foot purple fur and must impersonate a transfer student named Mary to hide from government exterminators. As he navigates cheerleading tryouts, first crushes, and cafeteria food, his rapidly growing hair begins to reveal both his alien nature and a surprising talent for emotional honesty that wins over the entire school. When his family’s war fleet arrives to reclaim him, Splarg must choose between returning to a planet that never accepted him or fighting for the messy, hairy, beautiful life he’s built on Earth.
The story
Splarg’s pod slams into the football field during prom photos; the military cordons the area while Splarg frantically shaves and steals a cheerleader uniform to become Mary.
Mary’s impossible hair triggers viral fame, a budding romance with the quarterback, and escalating government suspicion as Splarg’s family transmits invasion coordinates through his follicles.
At the climactic homecoming game Splarg reveals his true form, rallies the students to repel the Gloop fleet, and finally embraces the name Splarg as the town’s new hairy hero and prom queen.
