Synopsis

In the decaying husk of a once-idyllic 1990s mill town, twelve-year-old Tommy Reyes grips his father's pump shotgun and sprints through pea-soup fog at dusk. The undead close in from every alley, drawn by the thunder of his blasts, forcing him to reload on the run while memories of his family flicker like dying streetlights. As Tommy fights toward the rusted railway bridge that promises escape to rumored military safe zones, he discovers other survivors—wounded, terrified, and desperate—who see the boy not as prey but as their unlikely shield. Each shell he fires carves a path through the horde but also carves away pieces of his childhood, turning a game of make-believe into blood-soaked reality. By the final stretch, Tommy must choose between saving himself or turning back for those who believed in him, confronting the horrifying truth that the real monsters may not be the ones already dead.

EXT. FOG-CHOKED MAIN STREET - DUSK

Heavy 35mm grain. A YOUNG BOY, 12, TOMMY REYES, sprints through swirling fog, oversized flannel shirt flapping, PUMP SHOTGUN clutched tight. Behind him, a HORDE of shambling ZOMBIES emerges from storefronts.

TOMMY
(firing over shoulder)
Stay back!

BOOM. A zombie drops. He pumps, fires again. Shells hit wet asphalt.

He vaults a wrecked station wagon, lands hard, keeps running toward the distant RAILWAY BRIDGE glowing faint orange.

TOMMY
(whispering to himself)
Bridge. Just make the bridge.

A zombified DOG lunges from fog. Tommy spins, BLASTS it point-blank, reloads mid-stride.

The horde closes, silhouettes multiplying in the mist. Tommy's breath fogs the lens as he runs harder.

Why now

In a time of mounting global anxiety and fractured communities, a story of raw youthful courage cutting through literal and metaphorical hordes offers audiences cathartic hope and a nostalgic 90s lens on resilience that feels both retro-comforting and urgently timely.
